Get ready for a narrative rollercoaster

Well this story sure has its twists. It’s great to see that the predictable path is not the one the heroes decide to walk on. There are some nice choices you can make along the way and they lead to a nice ending. Some puzzles are more difficult than others but they are usually tide around the story. A nice game that builds upon the awesome reputation of Wadjet Eye Games

Interesting, engaging but short

An intriguing story fit for a nicely thought story. Lots of uncertainty in the way the story evolves and surprising elements. Voiceacting is good, animations are pretty good, the style of drawing is nice, though not the best 3d i’ve seen. One of its drawbacks was the way the characters and camera moved. However getting past this, I think the few hours (kind of few) are worth to go through to see how the story unveils.

A nice flower waiting to bloom

Well I was certainly impressed on how this game revealed its secrets. I must admit that after the first 5 minutes I wanted to uninstall it. The trailer was great but no chemistry to keep me going to be honest. But I told myself, hey, since I have it, let’s give it just a bit more chance to see if it can deliver upon its promise. And so it did, and quite a bit more actually.
Slow start in my opinion but, unlike other big titles, the story get better and better as the game progresses. Got me really hooked. Secrecy, inquisition, demons, history, great characters and the most wonderful sidekicks make a pretty tasty cocktail.
Graphics are just fantastic, animations are perfect, puzzles are very logical and easy to follow. Some may find them too easy but I think that they were very nicely designed to keep the story flowing.
Voiceacting was pretty good, except for the main character. While his intonation was rather interesting, he spoke so slow that it made me skip the vocal part and sticking to reading the lines. However the characters are really nicely tailored and the story and interaction are nicely crafted.
I would add it to the list of games that I would recommend further.
Enjoy

Nice way to spend a few hours

Well it was sure a nice way to spend the day. The story is pretty interesting, the setup is great and the graphics are brilliant, though maybe not everybody’s cup of tea, being pixelated. But the colors, the details and the general mood, man, this is art.
The story is pretty convincing, for the most part and the puzzles are pretty easy. Not a lot of moving from place to place (depending on everybody’s standard), so the story flows nicely.
Voiceacting is decent and the characters have enough background to justify their actions.
I recommend it for a nice relaxing play. Enjoy!

Great story and a nice blend of action adventure and puzzles

Strengths: graphics, soundtrack, atmosphere, historical facts, story, graphic novel feeling, great ending.
Didn’t convince me: bit much focus on action, decent puzzles though nothing spectacular.
I recommend it for the general feeling it leaves you. A good lesson to be learned from the past and hopefully prevent us from getting there again.

It just gets you there

Fancy that feeling of looking with the corner of your eye in the shadows when you play at night? Well, this game is sure to deliver on that promise. Great immersive feeling. Man, I’m telling you, you’re on that ship exploring. The sound effects are brilliant, one of the best I’ve come across so far. Voice acting is just perfect with nice accents are quite good. Plot is not bad, and develops itself at a comfortable rate, although there is a bit of reading along the way if you want to know about everybody’s past you come across. Maybe a bit predictable towards the end, but none the less, that feeling of being present on that ship never fades. Graphics are just spectacular and the cinematics are perfect in every way. A great effort on the part of these guys. Thanks mates

Nice atmosphere, lots of potential but..

Pretty nice game overall but lots of things that had potential to be developed more. Seems like the guys were in a rush to finish the game and tie all the loose knots.
The voice acting is spectacular, characters are well contoured and they develop in a very nice way throughout the game. Sound effects despite being a bit limited add a lot to the atmosphere. And this is again a strong point. Lots of tension flowing in the air, with plenty of theories to answer the mysteries.
Ending feels abrupt and leaves you wondering what’s going to happen next but it’s not that bad. Kinda left me wanting for more. Characters move a bit slow so sometimes you would like to have something to increase the speed.
All in all a good game, worth playing.

Put your faith in this nice adventure

Pretty interesting story, although it could have been exploited more, wrapped up in a very nice graphic style, decent voice acting and enjoyable characters sums up my experience with this game. Worth giving it a try.

Has a nice vibration to it

Made me lose a night’s sleep and go to work in zombie mode the next morning. That should sum up my impression on this game. To be more clear, I found it quite interesting, well developed, nicely written and cleverly designed. OK, it might not win an origami Oscar for an original script but it has very well planted twists and turns.
The mood is nice throughout the game, mostly due to the well outlined characters. They all have different personalities which is great for fresh gasps of air.
A lot of not so ordinary ways of interacting between characters and between characters and the environment, perfectly matched soundtrack, nice animations and great voice acting make the attention to details a great contributor to the general atmosphere.
The game is long enough to keep you interested (I got a bit too involved as I could not stop until i finished it) and the puzzles are logical and fit pretty well into the story.
I recommend it as a great way to spend a white night.

Manages to keep your interest.. alive

For a casual game it’s pretty nice. The story is quite catchy and it has that nice “virus” of keeping you stuck to the chair to see where it leads. The ending was nice so there is a good reward at the end. The characters are nicely drawn but there are quite a few references to the previous game which would be good to be played in advance for a more clear following of the story.
The puzzles are mostly clear and engaging and the overall atmosphere is nicely designed (both from a visual, audio and puzzle integration point of view).
Nice way to relax.

Chronicles of Mystery: The Tree of Life

Although it did not root firmly in my heart, I still enjoyed the mysterios taste of its fruits

Falling a little bit behind the expectations created by its predecessor (of which references can be found throughout the game), the second chapter in the Chronicles of Mystery still manages to create a nice story with light puzzles, backed the most by the very nice production values, such as awesome cinematics, great voice acting, richly detailed settings and a nice diversity when it comes to the type of surroundings.
The story grabs your interest and manages to discreetly hold it until the abruptly end of the game, but it sure leaves the sensation it might have more potential for development.
Strong points: mood, attention to details, presentation, diversity, logical puzzles that pretty much most of the time integrate rather well into the story, references to the first installment of the series, characters;
Weaknesses: the story leaves the feeling it was not exploited to its full potential, difficulty of the puzzles, abrupt ending.

Nice debut

A good distraction especially as a small desert after playing a longer adventure game, Da New Guys manage to bundle some nice puzzles, average humor, decent characters together with a very cool soundtrack. Puzzles are fairly simple and intuitive but nicely designed and well integrated into the story so they make sense and fit well.
