Between Horizons Offers Thought-Provoking Sci-Fi Adventure

DigiTales Interactive's latest release, Between Horizons, is set to provide players with an experience that prompts thought and reflection as they navigate through a semi-open world on a massive spaceship. Published by Assemble Entertainment, the game will be available later this year on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5.

The game's premise deals with a spaceship carrying advocates for mankind on a mission to find an oasis away from a tormented and destroyed Earth. However, the story also focuses on the middle generations - the people born on the ship who never asked to be part of the mission and won't live to see the end of the 130-year journey.

In the latest Between Horizons devlog video, DigiTales Interactive dives into the game's inner workings, explaining how the semi-open world and branching narratives allow players to determine their own destiny on the ship. Players must think about every action and consequent reaction as the game prompts thought-provoking problems, inviting players to weigh intergenerational responsibility against personal freedom.

The game features a unique and beautiful art style, with timeless pixel art mixed with 3D environments and compelling visual effects. It merges investigative-style gameplay with a branching sci-fi story in an ever-expanding, gritty Metroidvania-style environment. The game's auto-save system ensures that there are no second chances, as submitting wrong solutions means players will have to live with the consequences, and the story branches and endings are based on player decisions.

DigiTales Interactive's previous game, 2D sci-fi noir adventure Lacuna, was a huge success, and Between Horizons looks set to build on that. The game is coming to PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4|5 later in 2023.
