Carol Reed Mystery: The Game Maker now available
The Game Maker, A Carol Reed Mystery, a new point-and-click adventure game from developer MDNA Games, has been released for Windows and Mac. Players take on the role of private detective Carol Reed as she investigates the disappearance of Dalton Jonson's wife, Daria, in the Swedish town of Norrköping.
As Carol delves deeper into the case, she uncovers a sinister plot involving an elusive video game designer and a series of brutal murders. Players must collect items and solve puzzles while navigating through professional-grade photographs in order to uncover the truth behind the crimes.
The game was developed using the EgoVenture framework for the Godot game engine, by Mikael Nyqvist, the founder of MDNA Games. The company's name is a reference to singer Madonna, and the character of Carol Reed was named by Nyqvist's wife, Eleen. The game's production process included scripting, planning, location scouting, photographing, and sound recording, with Photoshop photo retouching and game programming taking up the most time.
