The Path laid out in new teaser

If you're read some of advance materials about The Path and are still a little confused about what to expect, the new trailer released today from Tale of Tales should... keep you just as confused.

The "short horror game" by Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn, who previously released the experimental The Graveyard, is described as a "contemporary interpretation of the ancient tale of Little Red Ridinghood" which features six sisters sent alone to their grandmother's house. Their only instruction is never to stray from the path, as doing so will surely lead to tragedy, but as the developers teasingly question, "Do they really have a choice?"

Anyone expecting a traditonal adventure won't find it on (or off) The Path, or even a traditional game of any kind, as the title foreskakes regular game goals in favour of offering "a sincere meditation on the subjects of choice and consequence, temptation and duty, growth and change, and life and death."

The two-minute trailer offers a representative glimpse of this unusual experience, intended to be "strange, disjointed and completely open for interpretation while simultaneously feeling very comfortable and intimate." The teaser can be streamed directly from the game's website.

The Path will be the first fully commercial endeavour by Tale of Tales, releasing next week through digital distribution at a cost of $9.99 USD.
