The Exchange Student checks in for release

Episodic gaming continues to increase in popularity, and a new adventure has followed suit in the form of an "interactive sitcom" called The Exchange Student.

The series is produced by a new development team called Pan Metron Ariston, spearheaded by Dimitris Manos, the founder of The Inventory webzine. A third-person, point-and-click adventure, The Exchange Student tells the story of 22-year old Emilio Carboni, an Italian student who has never had a girlfriend. After his friend returns from an exchange program in Sweden with stories of all the beautiful women he encountered, Emilio decides to spend a semester there himself. Upon arriving, however, he soon discovers that "finding a Swedish girlfriend is not as easy as it seemed to be."

According to the press release, the game should appeal to fans of "TV cartoon shows like Johnny Bravo, games like Leisure Suit Larry and Curse of Monkey Island and TV sitcoms like Friends, That 70s Show and Married with Children."

The first episode, First Day in Sweden, is priced at 10 Euros, and is now available for download at the official website. The download includes a free trial portion with a purchase option to unlock the full game. A Mac version is planned for release in future, and the second episode is due out in October.
