ScummVM no longer accepting PayPal donations

ScummVM, one of the most popular adventure-game emulators available, has been forced to remove the PayPal option from their websites, due to an issue concerning PayPal's usage policy. ScummVM makes it possible to run a game on a 'system it was not sold for', and this was given as the reason for PayPal's surprising decision.

According to ScummVM's forums, the team have been trying to appeal this with PayPal, stating that their policies 'make absolutely no sense for a project like ScummVM', and that the software has been actively supported by several game developers such as Revolution and Adventure Soft, but PayPal has refused to change their decision. ScummVM is asking the general public to e-mail PayPal, showing your disappointment at their policies. More info on this can be found on the ScummVM forums.

ScummVM is currently supporting a wide range of adventure games, making it possible to replay the classics of old on a variety of operating systems and platforms, including Windows, Linux, MacOS X and several consoles and hand-held devices. The latest version can be found here, along with freeware versions of Beneath a Steel Sky and Flight of the Amazon Queen. And yes, it's perfectly legal.
