Barrow Hill: The Dark Path
I’ll download the game the moment it is released tomorrow, so I thought I’d create a thread where we can discuss our return to Barrow Hill. In spite of all the empty promises over the years, I’m excited to play The Dark Path.

I noticed just now it’s only on Steam. No GOG release? The first Barrow Hill isn’t there either, but the Dark Fall games are.

I would consider buying this game, but once again, as with the original Barrow Hill, the developer has ignored hearing impaired people and left out a subtitle option. This is a serious oversight in my opinion.
I’ll be buying it tomorrow as well. Can’t wait to play it! I’m hoping it has the same type of magic the first game had with me. I swear it popped out of nowhere.

Some questions
This is the second game in the series?
What kind of game is Barrow Hill?
What’s so good about the game?
Some questions
This is the second game in the series?
Yep.
What kind of game is Barrow Hill?
Dark, spooky and Mystian: 1st-person, lonely exploration, stuff to read, rituals to perform, ghosts to appease. In the same category as Amber, the Dark Fall trilogy, Rhiannon.
What’s so good about the game?
I don’t know, I just like this type of indie game. Maybe fan Zobraks can shed light on the matter. If he’s still around.
Right now, my biggest concern is that the Dark Path looks dated. Ten years is a long time. We’ll see. I’m still looking forward to revisiting Barrow Hill.

He already did so, but not in English. Use Google Translate and have a few laughs.

I heard he had left for good, but who can tell.

Hey, are you going to play The Dark Path tomorrow?

I won’t play it tomorrow, but I’ll play it for sure when the nights grow long.

Sounds good. The first one seems it’s also being released on Steam tomorrow, will try it later.

Translated to portuguese but I think I got the essence of it
What kind of game is Barrow Hill?
I get Karlok’s Amber - Journeys Beyond comparison, but not so much the Mystian. My comparison would be Scratches. First person psychological horror/mystery type of thing. I really enjoyed the first game. Hope this one lives up to that standard.
For whom the games toll,
they toll for thee.
I was looking through the forums and on the AG database for more information and I saw the Barrow Hill games are made by the same designer as the Dark Fall games. So then I went to read about them but I feel kind of lost really. I see there was the Dark Fall trilogy and after that, the Crown series.
Are the Crown games related to either Dark Fall or Barrow Hill?
Also, in what order were the Crown games released, exactly?
Thanks!

Where do you see that?
Jon Boakes (Darkling Room) and Matt Clark (Shadow Tor) are different people.

Err… gosh I must be tired. I browsed through numerous pages and for reasons I can’t remember, I simply came to the conclusion there were all made by the same person. No wonder I was so confused.
Thanks for pointing that out!

The English translation of my little review is not nearly as bad as I expected it to be, either; GT even got some of the puns and not-so-often-used phrases.

Your confusion is understandable since they’ve been working together for years. Matt Clark helps Jonathan Boakes with his games and vice versa. Same type of games too, same voice actors.
