THE BUM - wacky football themed point & click adventure game

The game tells a story of a homeless man who communicates with the world using an old sock on his right hand. He’s a huge football fan and plays it a lot near his back alley. One day he gets mugged by a wandering bully and loses his precious ball in the process. Now he must pull himself together, team up with a local superhero, find a new ball and confront his oppressor again.

The idea for this game was conceived six years ago. At first it was just sort of a “yay! I’m making a game” thing, cause I was totally new to programming and I couldn’t draw at all. But years later a very talented pixel artist came on board and it occured to me that together we might be able to actually finish the game:) So, after five years of toe wigglin, Paint doodling and wall staring, and one year of actual production, we have the GAME. It was a long and very personal journey. We hope you’ll like what you’ll play. Please let us know in the comments!

Sounds like fun and looks nice and it’s FREE (!).

P.S. I like the way you described the game creation.

Love the plot summary. I’m definitely going to play this. I was just thinking about how rare it is to have adventure game characters who are big sports fans.

I like the graphics. Bright and sunny pixellated graphics for a change is nice.

Looks like a ton of fun with a dash of The Beaver (also starring a bum Naughty).

Funny thing. When I learned about Mel Gibson’s The Beaver couple years back I was angry they stole my idea and that now everybody’s gonna think I stole from them Smile

You’re not the only freeware developer to have that problem. There was a game a while back that looked like a Source Code rip-off, until you found out it was a remake of a much earlier text adventure by the same person.

Already on my radar, and like what I’ve seen so far. Even without your signature I could tell that MI was important to you.

Quest for Knowledge

I’m hoping to find name for game that I played long ago
The people here so well-informed, someone is sure to know
A time machine, grandfather clock, I give it to myself
Oh never mind, the box is sitting there upon my shelf

For real retro gaming nerds, name that game.

is there a walkthrough for this?  I am rather stuck trying to get the knife from the motorcycle guy.  at least, that is what I think I need to do. I am assuming he is afraid of spiders, but, can’t find a spider.  or is there a forum to post your questions about the game? thanks.

yep, here’s help forum: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=48112.new#new

and here’s walkthrough: http://gamesolutions.efzeven.nl/the-bum-walkthrough-gribbler-parafia2013/

And my tips: you don’t need the knife. You have to get the spider. Spider web can be found below the street.

After backing a bunch of Kickstarter projects, it feels weird to just download a game without paying or waiting. Is there a way to give you a donation?
