Photopia is told through a series of vignettes arranged from two parallel, intertwining stories. One is set in the regular, ordinary world in which you play a multitude of characters who are all linked in some way to the central character, Alley, at various phases of her life. The other story is a journey through space and fantastical lands, told in a panopoly of vivid colors which change for each chapter and are loosely related to the chapter’s setting.

At the beginning it’s unclear how the two stories are linked but eventually they come together in a beautifully poignant way. As tragic as some of the events in Photopia are, the story is ultimately about love and how it can affect those around us - a refreshingly positive tale for a game to tell.

It’s a short, simple game easily played in one sitting and there are very few (if any) real puzzles in the game which helps the pacing flow like a novel, as it should. It also has dialogue trees - something unique in the world of IF. In short, a perfect game for the IF newcomer.

Hey, I played this one, I remember it was mostly easy and played in one sitting but don’t really remember much about the story except the use of color font change
