Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Sunday, 22 May
Cruise for a Corpse strived for realism both in gameplay and graphics (especially in character close-ups), though those backgrounds still had cartoony feel to them. A precursor to The Last Express, Cruise for a Corpse utilized rotoscope technique, and had you wandering around ship in “real-time” looking to solve the mystery in a classic Agatha Christie vein, though lacked the refinement of Mechner’s game. It’s a little rough around the edges, and even more unforgiving than The Last Express, thus never achieved some bigger success, but still, if you’re looking for a classic “whodunit” in the form of an adventure game, it should be among the top choices.
