The best “mystery/thriller” ever made, Broken Sword 1 managed to be both realistic AND cartoony. Smile The strength of it lies in the simplicity and nice dosage of all elements (crime, humour… even the music!), making for a rare calm, lighthearted yet still suspenseful atmosphere.

Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale

I replayed it recently and it didn’t leave the same impression on me as it did the first time I played it back in the 90’s. Back then, it blew me away with its amazing graphics compared to all the pixel art cartoon adventures of Lucasarts and Sierra before it, and its interesting story about Templars. Since then, graphics have taken leaps and bounds, and the Templar story has been told in other games (and in one of broken sword’s sequels as well), so the novelty of it wore of. Still a classic in adventure gaming history, and a must play for any adventure fan.

Edit: And I always thought an Indiana Jones lawyer sounds a little weird Tongue.

I’m bound to replay the first two Broken Sword games one of these days. It’s been 15 years since I’ve played them.

I wonder if the French police French accents are still as outrageous as they were the first time.
