Whenever someone mentions Realms of the Haunting to me, I think of a bizarre thing: At the time when the game was released (1997), there was a local TV game show, where they would review new games etc. The narrator would review games just as if you’re reading a magazine, with gameplay footage. I loved the show. Then, in one episode, the review of Realms of the Haunting came up - you could see the 1st-person gameplay, and the narrator’s voice was echoing in a menacing manner, repeating one sentence OVER AND OVER: “Realms of the Haunting - brings back hope to return of 3D adventures… Realms of the Haunting - brings back hope to return of 3D adventures…”

That was all. The sentence that repeated itself throughout the whole “review”. I don’t know if 3D adventures in future years fulfilled hope, and I’ve never played RotH, but if 3D adventure games ever make a glorious comeback - I know it will be thanks to Realms of the Haunting.

Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
