Barrow Hill goes gold

Just when you thought you'd bought enough underwear to get you through Scratches, it's time to head back out to gear up for Barrow Hill. Independent UK developer Shadow Tor Studios announced today that its Celtic-themed horror adventure has gone gold and is now available for preorder.

The debut title from Shadow Tor, Barrow Hill is a first-person adventure that sees the player join respected archaeologist Conrad Morse in the investigation of ancient standing stones that have long been shrouded in mystery and plagued by unexplained tragedy. Arriving during the Autumn Equinox, you'll have a single night to uncover Barrow Hill's secrets while danger lurks in the surrounding forest. According to the developer's press release, you'll use real archaeological techniques like "geophysical mapping (ground radar), and scientific crafts like palaeobotany (the study of near fossilised plants, and seeds)" to "unearth forgotten artefacts and delve into the Celtic legends, which haunt the green lanes of the hill."

Barrow Hill comes on DVD-ROM, and costs $25.99 (USD), which includes free shipping worldwide. The game is available from the official website, which is currently accepting preorders. As an added bonus, the first 100 preorders will receive the game's soundtrack, and 10 of those 100 will contain exclusive (and unrevealed) extras.
