Scratches demo claws its way free

If you didn't get your fill of Halloween scares, Nucleosys has served up a last treat with a new demo of its upcoming horror adventure, Scratches.

The demo offers a generous portion of gameplay from the intial section of the game (with some demo-specific limitations), allowing players to begin exploring the eerie, Victorian-styled Blackwood Manor. The full game will feature various locations around the manor, including a greenhouse, a macabre chapel, and a crypt, among others. And as players will soon discover, "somewhere... concealed and lurking in the darkness... it awaits."

A first-person, point & click adventure with node movement, Scratches tells the story of writer Michael Arthate, who moves to the manor to finish his new book, where he becomes fascinated by the story behind the house itself. But according to Nucleosys, "what Michael does not yet know is that this place has witnessed terrible acts throughout the decades and is holding a dangerous secret... one that threatens to end his life!"

The demo includes both a 360-degree panoramic view and slideshow option, along with a built-in hint system that offers gameplay basics and subtle hints to make the game very user-friendly.

The download weighs in at a reasonable 115 MB, and is available at sites like Gamers Hell and 3D Gamers.
