Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Sunday, 8 May
I promise this will be an exception rather than a rule, but this GIF is way too hilarious not to be used as a “scene”. Anyway, where should I start… Jack Orlando: A Cinematic Adventure had it all, a GREAT sounding main character’s name (I mean, “Jack Orlando”, that’s like “Max Power”!), decent graphics and the hard-boiled detective theme that never gets old. I don’t know what went wrong that it kept my attention for 3 screens and 2 dialogue lines. I should give Max Power another chance sometime.
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
This game is amongst the 1st 5 I ever played on having access to a computer (without too much knowledge of the internet at the time). I liked the graphical style, the theme, the story & the voice-acting & it engaged me to the end. As being amongst my 1st forays into Adventure Gaming I’m very fond of it & I don’t care what anyone else says about it! Jack Orlando ruled at the time
I don’t get where this game went wrong. It looked great, had a wonderful soundtrack, some decent voice acting, was ticking all the right detective/noir boxes, and still it’s a poor game.
It wound up an uninteresting mess, and I can hardly recall what it was even about, despite having all these things going for it…
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
