Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Sunday, 10 April
Slightly underrated, Innocent Until Caught is a pretty good game even for the 1993 standards - Jack T Ladd is a mishmash of Indiana Jones and Tex Murphy in a lighthearted sci-fi atmosphere, and it works. Even though I finished the game some 10+ years ago, I can’t remember much and I guess it speaks that it’s not really the “A class” caliber, but I know that it doesn’t lack substance and plenty of challenges in the best (worst?) inventory puzzles tradition.
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
What does the “status” button do?
It’s just an Options screen with a progress report (but I THINK I remember having some of that RPG touch as well, where you can combine stuff to Jack directly - like changing clothes, but I’m not sure about that one):

I’ve wanted to play this game and its sequel for a while, but never cared enough to actually go and look for them. I guess I should add them to my list.
I played and finished Guilty when it came out and really enjoyed it. I’ve completely forgotten the puzzles but I remember it as being a very good game albeit very underrated.
Somehow in my mind I associate it to Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon.

Go for it. I played them both in turn in just few days (where’s the challenge when you need it?!), not the worst way to spend some “pulp science fiction-induced” weekend.

Innocent Until Caught 2 aka Guilty is, just like Innocent Until Caught, all foggy in my memory, but I think the sequel was slightly more polished, and longer (I might be mistaken, again - after all, they’re very similar, and were released in short time span, something similar to Broken Sword 1 and 2). As for the Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon similarity… hmm, well yes, they’re both sci-fi/comedies, though I’d say Innocent Until Caught is a sci-fi (lighthearted, though) first, comedy second, and CCS is definitely a laugh out loud title.
