Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Tuesday, 16 February
And the “Worst male protagonist’s haircut” award goes to…
Lands of Lore series is a strange breed - first, you have an almost iconic first part, than the second game that sacrificed some of the RPG adventure for action, and Lands of Lore III that tried to redeem it and go back to the roots. Technically speaking, the game is on the half way between a classic RPG and 3D adventure, with some action thrown in.
The adventure part comes from the fact that the gameworld is, what could be called “light RPG”, with smaller worlds than usual, thus resembling more 3D adventure, with an unusual large number of puzzles to solve along the way (similar in execution to King’s Quest 8, although it’s a 1st-person game). Your character, 16 year-old Copper will also get a sidekick called “familiar” to bring some lighthearted note, and can come from one of the 4 guilds in the game, assisting on your quest to kill the barber redeem your stolen soul (and save the world, naturally).
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
Played the first Lands of Lore many years ago, and I quite liked it, though it was a bit of an uneven experience. Never played the two sequels though.
You have to play the game, to find out why you are playing the game! - eXistenZ
