Egress - The Test of STS-417
Although you may not have heard of this game, you probably have come across the name Dane Krams, the author of this game and of the commercially released “Anna’s Quest” (released by Daedelic). Egress was made with AGS (how did you guess ) and remains free to download.
The game looks good and the atmosphere created is strong too. You play as the commander of a 2 man recon team in deep space on board a planetary probe. A mysterious attack leaves you stranded on an alien planet with no memory of how you got there and only the screams of your colleague coming through your radio.
Although it’s short there are different endings and even multiple puzzle solutions (sort of). It just feels smooth and professional throughout and although the puzzles can be a mite frustrating in places the overall story, feel and atmosphere make this a winner.
If you like Dane’s graphical style then this is worthwhile for that alone, but even otherwise it is a worthy diversion for half an hour or so.

Yeah it’s a good one this and although it’s probably fair to say that Dane’s art has come on a fair bit between this and Anna the style is great.
Also, welcome back Advie!

Also, sounds like an interesting game, if I didn’t already had a big backlog of games, I would definitely try it.

Whoa, nearly missed this one - this is the coolest! Thanks so much Intense for posting! I’m definitely not super proud of some of the puzzle design in this one ^^v but I do still love the atmosphere of it too, particularly the dialogue ‘puzzle’ at the end. I still have the A4 piece of paper where I had to make sense of that end scene and what result it would give the player - was a very full looking page ^^
Anyway I’m rambling - thanks for playing everyone! Made my day
