You know those bizarre cartoons of 30s, 40s… by Max Fleischer, Chuck Jones… that are both cute AND twisted in a way?! Well, Jack in the Dark is exactly like it - set on a Halloween, you take the role of a little girl Grace Saunders who enters the old toy shop while trick-or-treating. Of course, once she enters, the doors slam shut and she can not go out, until she solves the mystery - are those things just a cute toys, or cruel, perverted monsters?! How long will you be able to stand the sickeningly cheery background music until you go completely mad?!

It’s a game that was made by “Alone in the Dark” authors between the first and the second game of that series as a free Christmas-time spin-off (included both on CD versions of Alone in the Dark 1 and 2), and unlike those, there’re no action and fighting involved, just puzzles. It’s also VERY, VERY short with two rooms and few puzzles, but both because Grace moves slowly and because you have NO IDEA what you should be doing (along with puzzles that are not completely illogical but cruel!) perhaps you’ll manage to spend an entire Halloween evening with it.

Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
