Sometimes games don’t need to be long to make an impression.

This one was made for a “One-Room-One-Week” competition in which contestants have 1 week to make a complete game from scratch and has yielded some surprisingly good results over the years.

You play an ageless, faceless (but not gender neutral!) culturally ambiguous adventure person who is caught in the rain miles from anywhere and somehow stumbles into a building in which a beauty contest is taking place. First prize is a car and, well, you need a car. The only thing standing between you and your prize? The other 3 contestants of course!

Completely unprepared and looking a bedraggled mess, you must win the contest - by ANY means necessary!

This game is very short, but lots of fun with a wicked sense of humour and a pleasantly dry nod to a darker ending. Given the game was made in one week, the vaguely DOTT style graphics are really quite good and the short spiky style of the puzzles fits in well with premise of the game and the competition.

It may only take 10 - 15 minutes to play through (you could probably “speedrun” it in 2-3 minutes to be honest) but it has certainly stuck in my mind in a way that many longer and, ostensibly, better games haven’t. A great way to make you smile if you’ve got 20 minutes to kill (including download time!)

How about the DotT-like concept of winning a beauty contest by cheating and getting rid of the other contestants???

Well… there is that I suppose… But there’s no mummy here!

Are you sure? The one in the screenshot could be a half-unwrapped mummy, you know…
