Adventure Game Scene of the Day - Tuesday 9 June 2015
What you get when you mix Diablo interface, Heroes of Might and Magic turn-based combat, and adventure?
Brány Skeldalu 2 tells you little, but The Fifth Disciple should be familiar to those hunting obscure (hybrid) adventures. The game is one-of-a-kind experience, both in the atmosphere and gameplay. Half of it involves standard inventory puzzles, dialog… through a dystopian-fantasy narrative, and the rest of the “fun” is reserved for casting magic on snakes, bears, guards, monsters… and leveling up for better magic spells. It oozes with “epic journey” feel (escape the prison camp, get to the city… overthrow the dictator!), it’s very long, but can be frustratingly hard due to little-or-no feedback for some of the puzzles in a semi-open world, dying and combat (though you can save anywhere).
BTW, cute girl. Vamp or vampire? Play to find out.
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale

That depends on which vampire story you’re reading. In Dracula, the count is seen walking around at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. The only precaution he took against the sun was putting on a “hat of straw which suit not him or the time”.
I like the screenshot & the game seems interesting - turn-based ‘action’ I can get on with in moderation!
