Vote for one game in each versus match that you’d like to see advance to the next round. Feel free to skip any match that you don’t want to vote in.
Voting for this bracket will end on 24 January at 23:59 GMT.
The four games in each bracket that survive their versus match will go on to the next round (Quarterfinals), and so on, until only one game remains and wins the tournament for our community’s favorite adventure game.

Match 1 - Of errand pirates and sad jesters…
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge
One of the best games ever made!
SoccerDude28
Well, Monkey Island DOES have a Special Edition that makes it even better…
TimovieMan
A classic. Mostly to the fact that is slightly darker than the rest of them.
Sefir
I have to choose the classic pirate adventure!
Adventure Games Forever
I never thought I’d hear a fan of adventure games say he didn’t like Monkey Island 2. One of the best endings I’ve ever seen.
Renacimiento
Regardless of your feelings on the ending cutscene itself, that whole last gameplay sequence with LeChuck is hilarious, tense, and surreal as hell. I’ve always loved it.
Lambonius
One of the best pieces of software art and entertainment ever!
Bogi
...it never really came close to the quality of the classic MI2.
Harald
The Whispered World
Resonance is a very good game - but TWW is even better!
Iznogood
The Whispered World is my No5 personal favorite game. Resonance is No8. I believe that these two games are the best adventure game titles of the last 6-7 years (at least)...
Sefir
Certainly a Top 5 game of the last ten years…
The best Daedelic game!
Bogi
The Whispered World is what made Daedalic such a successful and productive company, and the game is also my personal Game of the Year for 2010 and one of my favorite adventure games ever…
Adventure Games Forever
Match 2 - The best of both worlds: Animated Vs. Live-Action
The Curse of Monkey Island
No real contest here.
Iznogood
It’s only my #1 adventure game, none can stand against it!
TimovieMan
I haven’t played Zork Nemesis, but could it really be better than CoMI…?
Harald
Had a huge weight to bear and did it commendatory.
Bogi
Not really a match for me… the classic pirate adventure wins! Curse is also the first Monkey Island game I played, and a game that really got me really into traditional 2D third person adventures.
Adventure Games Forever
Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive
...TPD is one of my all time favourite games.
Iznogood
See my avatar? The Pandora Directive is my favorite game of all time, hands down! I recently read the novel again and played the game again, and it’s just as awesome as it always was!
Adventure Games Forever
I haven’t played Portal, but no matter how good it is there’s no way it’d beat TPD for best adventure game in my book. TPD is among the best of the best.
Detective Mosely
Interesting to see good ol’ Tex wiping the floor with these modern adventures.
Diego
The Pandora Directive is the best piece of electronic entertainment ever made, and since Tesla Effect didn’t quite live up to the hype, it is also likely to stay that way for all eternity. No hyperbole in that sentence whatsoever.

See you around, wolf. Nerissa
1 - Monkey Island 2
2 - Tex Murphy
1 - Monkey Island 2
2 - Tex Murphy
This!
whispered world
pandora directive
Monkey Island 2
Curse of Monkey Island
1. Haven’t played Whispered World
2. Pandora Directive
It’s my favorite Tex game vs. my least favorite of the first 3 Monkey Islands.
And honestly Curse probably ended up lowering my opinion of the Monkey Island series as a whole, as I’m just not big on its silly, cartoonish style of humor. It’s a good game that I enjoyed playing, but I don’t think it deserves to be considered one of the very best adventure games ever made.
1. Monkey Island 2
2. Curse of Monkey Island
The Whispered World
Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive
Well, the first one is easy
1) Monkey Island 2 (TWW had simply no pull whatsoever - it’s possible it would’ve gotten better further along but in the beginning every second of playing was just a fight to care to play further)
2) Haven’t played either, no vote.
Aie, at least a very hard choice…..COMI is the more fun game, that I enjoyed more, but I have to conclude that The Pandora Directive is the better game…..but one that I simply like less due to the first person gameplay.
So:
Match 1: Monkey Island 2: LeChucks Revenge
Match 2: No Vote
1. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge
2. Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive
Both very strong draws. All 4 games are really good.
1. The Whispered World. (It has the best ending ever in an adventure game. MI2 has the worst ending ever in an adventure game. Also, TWW is superior in graphic syle, music and story overall. It’s humour is better and it even manages to be more “serious” than MI2 at the same time. MI2 has better riddles and the famous 4-island gameplay. Also, darker.)
2. The Curse of Monkey Island.
Match 1 - The Whispered World
Match 2 - Tex Murphy: TPD
3.5 time winner of the “Really Annoying Caption Contest Saboteur” Award!
- Monkey Island 2: LeChuck`s Revenge
- Tex Murphy: Pandora Directive
Playing: 1) Broken Sword 5 2) Road 96
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge (Monkey 2 is my second favorite game of all time, so this is a clear choice for me)
The Curse of Monkey Island (Both are great, but I’m just a huge fan of the three first Monkey Island games)
