Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Thursday 27 February 2014
Juggernaut (1998) is a first person adventure game released exclusively for the original PlayStation console. It takes place inside the mind of your girlfriend who has been possessed by a demon. Each area of her psyche has its own unique theme and style that you have to work your way through in order to save her soul. These include a 90s style virtual reality, a deserted mansion/castle, an island inhabited by primitives, a forest village, a prison and more.
The game has a variety of interesting puzzles, one of which centers around the fact that you are in spirit form and have to possess bodies of various sizes to manipulate objects and to travel to certain areas of the game world. The game is kind of strange and there were some things I didn’t care for, but overall it is one of the better console exclusives I’ve played.
Does this mean I can claim Tim Schaefer stole the idea for Psychonauts?

Hehe, and the basic idea for Stacking as well:

Tim Schafer played this and was inspired by it, methinks.
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
Two other examples that come to mind are The Psychic Detective and The Space Bar. I’m sure there are many others.

Well, there’s Messiah, of course.
