Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Wednesday 22 January 2014
This screen is from Oo-Topos (1981), a science fiction text adventure originally released for the Apple II. It’s one of the oldest complete games in my personal adventure game collection and rather primitive in its gameplay, which is hardly surprising given its age. The author eventually went to work for Infocom.
*The first release of this game was text only, so I used a shot from the 1987 DOS version.
People had to have a lot of imagination to enjoy the graphics in those days.
Everybody wants to be Cary Grant.
Even Me.

Not. Really?
Its pretty clear as to what you’re seeing.

Sure. A huge blob of green stuff full of diamonds.
Everybody wants to be Cary Grant.
Even Me.

A blob of green stuff with muscle definition, eyebrows, and a mouth.

Ok, you have a good imagination.

Even Me.

Yeah, we did. Some of it was the lack of an alternative.
It must be the “odd expression on his face” that makes it difficult. If only I knew what a Grix usually looks like!
See you around, wolf. Nerissa

That reminded of the quotesi loved from a dark tower novel (the one with ‘thank you Sai’)
“The scariest, most terrifying thing that I fear?”
“Yes.”
“My Imagination.”
I thought you were going to say “Fear, itself.”
“Then you have a small imagination.”
