Review of Face Noir by Niclas

Lovely noir detective mystery

I must say that I love noir detective mysteries. Face Noir really captures that feel with its rainy environments, music, and great voice acting performance from the main protagonist. Where it falls short from greatness is the average puzzle design. The first half of the game feels more like a fetch quest and the puzzles do not really feel well integrated in the environment and the story. Also the stand alone 3D puzzles are overly complicated to solve because of weird angles. However the puzzles do get better in the second half of the game, plus the story gets more interesting as well. This game could have been so much more if some things would have been executed a little bit better. However I still enjoyed playing this game very much, and I truly recommend it to any detective genre and noir lover. I’m really looking forward to the sequel as this is heavily obvious because of the abrupt ending. I really do hope that more adventure games are made in this noir genre.
