Back to the Future sets course for December release date

You'll still have to wait for it the old fashioned way, but you can now mark December on your calendars for the launch of Back to the Future: The Game, as Telltale has announced a release target and order details for the upcoming series.

The five-part episodic series picks up six months after the end of the third Back to the Future movie with an all new time-travelling storyline for Doc Brown and Marty McFly. Few details have yet been revealed about the plot, but Telltale has recently released a series of three behind-the-scenes videos, including contributions from movie writer Bob Gale, actor Christopher Lloyd (Doc), and the soundalike for Michael J. Fox, AJ LoCascio, whose impersonations should make everyone breathe easier that Fox himself won't be reprising his role.

As with other Telltale series, Back to the Future can be purchased as a full-season, and pre-orders have now begun. The cost is $24.95 for PC and Mac, and $1 of each purchase is donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Pre-orders include a free download of Puzzle Agent and access to an insider forum at Telltale devoted to the new series. As usual, once the season is complete, a disc version will be available for just the cost of shipping to any season purchaser through Telltale. For more details, including the other two behind-the-scenes videos, head on over to the official website.

While no firm date has been set, Back to the Future is scheduled for release on PC and Mac some time in December, and launched shortly after on the PlayStation Network and iPad.
