The New York Times on adventure games
The New York Times' Charles Herold has written A Streak of Glamour but a Lack of Lifeblood, an article covering the current state of adventure gaming. Its main focus is Syberia, the recently released third-person game. Unfortunately, he wasn't all that impressed. Syberia is an ambitious game that clearly means to be something special, and it has received euphoric reviews. But I found it mediocre. It's good-looking, but doesn't have those moments of rhapsodic beauty found in games like Riven or The Longest Journey. The story is sometimes intriguing, but it unwinds lethargically.
