The Adventure MMO Half Broken Crown, to launch in mid-June

Think that all fantasy MMO (massive multiplayer online) games are only RPGs? Think again, as NextGenBooks.com has announced the beta preview launch on June 17th of The Half Broken Crown: The Broken Kingdoms, with the full launch following on June 24th.

Using a classic point-and-click interface, this multiplayer online adventure game focuses on puzzle solving and community building, not combat. The game is fully browser-based, and can be played on PC, Mac, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS (though the DS community support won't be available until later).

Based upon the upcoming book of the same name by Darren Reid and taking place decades after the end of the novel, The Half Broken Crown is set during dark times when "the glory days of the Old Empire are long gone. Everywhere in the world there are great ruined cities to explore, abandoned fortresses and forgotten magic."

While the basic game will be free, additional content, quests and episodes will be made available for purchase, costing between $2.50 and $5.00 (£1.50-£3.00) each. The preview launch on the 17th will allow players access to Ardara Village, the central hub of the game, and a special mini-quest.

For more details about the game, the official website offers information about getting started, and a tutorial video will soon be available.
