New horror-adventure announcement emerges Through the Woods

The forest, especially at night, is often thought of as a sinister place, with unknown terrors lurking just behind the next tree. The creatures that supposedly inhabit the woods have been the subject of folklore and myth for thousands of years, and it is that very nature of the woods, to both terrify and fascinate, that Antagonist Games hopes to tap into with their upcoming third-person horror adventure, Through the Woods.

Although most story details are being kept secret for now, the game will be set near a Norwegian town, in a forest where legends say that a man named Old Erik lives. He is said by the townspeople to snatch away misbehaving children, taking them back to his home in the forest. The game is partly inspired by Norse mythology, though the developers say creatures and “enemies” in the game will be unique, rather than straight retreads of already familiar myths and beings.

While navigating the fully-rendered 3D environment, players will find themselves armed with a flashlight and other tools that they find along the way. Exactly what goals players will be expected to accomplish remain unknown, though the story is promised to be “deep and personal.”

Through the Woods is expected to appear on PC in the third quarter of 2015. In the meantime, more information can be found on Antagonist’s official website.
