Beneath a Steel Sky re-emerges on iPhone/iPod Touch

This has been a good year for revived classics, from Tex Murphy to Monkey Island among those that have returned to prominence. Revolution Software has also done it once with Broken Sword Director's Cut, and now they're right back at it with today's release of Beneath a Steel Sky - Remastered for iPhone and iPod Touch.

That's right, PC gamers are out of luck this time, but for iPhone/iPod users, the revamped version will include such upgrades as a touch-based interface, new animated movies from Dave Gibbons (co-creator of Watchmen), a context-sensitive hint system, and a remastered audio track with improved voices and music.

The game itself should need no introduction by now, but BASS is set in a dystopian future, with players assuming the role of a man named Robert Foster. Abducted from his home and "flown a thousand miles to a city he's never seen, he can only ask himself: why me? Escaping from his abductors into the dark metropolis, he vows to avenge the murder of the only family he's ever known." For more information about the game, be sure to check out our review of the PC original, which is now available as legal freeware.

For additional details about the Remastered version, head on over to Revolution's website. The game itself can be purchased directly from the iTunes store for only $4.99.
