Team Tarsier announces Metronome

Sweden based Team Tarsier has just announced their development of Metronome. Looking like a cocktail of Tim Burton movies, Tim Schafer adventures, and Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 1995 film The City Of Lost Children, with a dash of Beyond Good & Evil, this game boasts jawdropping graphics and an interesting story.

Metronome tells the tale of a young man setting out to investigate and expose a conspiracy of oppression in the city of Metronome. Along the way he tries to unravel the enigma of a mysterious young girl. One particularly intriguing premise of this game is various integrated uses of sounds as a crucial part of the gameplay. You may be thinking of Loom or even that one puzzle in Myst, but Metronome promises to take it beyond that by requiring the player to collect different kinds of sounds and use them to influence key characters, or as weapons to defend themselves.

Another feature of Metronome is its graphics. They are simply breathtaking and look to be in real time 3D in all their atmospheric good looks. But don't take my word for it, check them out for yourself in our gallery. Make sure to download and watch the concept trailer, too.

There is a very good chance this title is being planned for the next gen consoles, and certainly for the PC, but we'll have to wait and see. Team Tarsier will be at E3 and we'll be paying them a visit to find out more.

Metronome definitely looks promising from what little we know about it now, a game to give other adventure companies a wake up call in terms of innovation, creativity, and originality. Visit the game's site for more information.
