A different and very detailed experience

I’ve been following these brothers since they started working on Stasis and on. Their cultural background in South Africa, as well as their detailed worlds make this game a masterpiece in terms of imagination.
The game is hard to finish, I had to submit to a hint based system guide to find my way.

Things I loved: The setting, the game look, the inmmersive sound effects, the dialogues, the refreshing culture background and the very cool story.

Things I didn’t like that much: Moving around was slow and tedious, having a lot of steps and empty places to walk around, forgetting which places you already cleared up, and having to perform too many steps going from place to place, probably 30% of the game time is travelling.
Even though they added a “to-do” list, I had to literally fill 10 pages of text with notes and a task tree that took several pages, to check everytime I played again to remember what I was doing and what to pursue. I’d have loved to have somewhere inside the game to add notes to places, things and a notebook for myself.
Another problem is a typical one in the Brotherhood games and I still insist they fix this: The 3D static environments have no strong shadows. However they render the scenes, they are dirty and filled of several height levels, so you don’t understand sometimes the general environment and where to move and where not, finding yourself moving around to test. It’s just as easy as adding more shadows and separation outlines between places.
Also, I guess they normally do everything, animation has never been a strong point in their games, in fact in Stasis it was pretty bad. I always suggest them to hire a professional animator to create the animations, It would look much more realistic. The cinematics in this game look quite bad in that sense, but the 3D is really cool though. It’s sad that the animations are not that good.

Among those things, this game is one of the best of the last years. They put a lot of care in their games and I really like them and still follow them. They created their own style. Long live The Brotherhood!
