Aggies 2016
I , too have an older computer holding me back from experiencing Obduction and Quern, so the only new game I had a chance to play and vote for is The Witness. It is a masterpiece IMHO, so I am ok with giving it my votes. What I was surprised at is that is wasn’t under traditional adventure. I am an old stick-in-the-mud when it comes to playing games, and I don’t see why this is a non traditional game. Big island, lots of poking around, tons of logic puzzles and environmental clues - how is this not like Riven or Rhem?

Everyone knows anything with graphics is non-traditional.
Joking aside, Riven was non-traditional once upon a time. The Witness is something different. I don’t think any tradition has been made out of what it is.
I don’t remember exactly which games I chose to vote for in each category (I should have posted the list immediately - but who cares?), anyway the games that interested me the most in 2016 are:

Quern

Silence
Haven Moon
Phenix Wright
There are many others that I hope to try someday (Stasis, Dreamfall Chapters, Kathy Rain…). Others disapointed me a little bit (such as Obduction), though they were still good and I didn’t have the feeling to waste my time and money with them.
I don’t think I played “bad” adventure games this year.
Looking forward for other great things in 2017 (including The Coral Cave, the final chapter of Void & Meddler, Syberia III, and the remake of Outcast - even though it’s action oriented)

I don`t know about the winners, but I voted Dreamfall:Chapters.
Best story, best setting and best music—> Dreamfall: Chapters
Best animation and best voice—> King`s Quest
Best graphic design—> Samorost 3
I had to give best drama writing and best character to Kathy Rain and best comedy to HER Majesty`s Spiffing
- best non traditional adventure: Samorost 3
- best traditional adventure: Kathy Rain
- best adventure of 2016: Dreamfall: Chapters

It’s not what I would choose, but I’d guess best game King’s Quest and reader’s choice Kathy Rain.
I see Dreamfall: Chapters getting a few votes, I’ve heard a mobile version and a PS4 version is in development, I’ll have to give this game a play.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.

After two days top 3 seems to be clear:
King`s Quest—> 3 aggies and 2 readers` choices
Samorost 3—> 2 aggies and 2 readers` choices
Kathy Rain—> 1 aggie and 3 readers` choices
Obduction—> 1 aggie and 1 readers` choice
Dreamfall: Chapters—> no aggies 
but 2 reader`s choices.
Playing: 1) Broken Sword 5 2) Road 96
