Golden Gate

The game starts with you standing in front of an abandoned house in San Francisco.  You enter and begin to gather clues that might lead you to a hidden treasure.  But beware!  There are rumors of a curse associated with those who have possessed these riches.

By using a special amulet, similar to the one used in Myst 4, you get to witness past events which, along with old letters and diary pages, will help you piece together the history of the treasure and perhaps even its location.

Before the Carol Reed games, watercolor graphics were used in the scenes of this game.  Not everyone appreciates the style, but I thought it was pretty at the time.  I also enjoyed exploring areas of the city and nearby Angel Island.

I quite liked Golden Gate. The ending was terrible though.

Yes, it was disappointing after all that effort, but I thought it fit in with the story.
