Casual Game Playthrough #17 - Eternal Journey: New Atlantis
A day late and a dollar short, as usual. Just checking in to join the party. I’ll try to catch up and keep up. BTW, as I recall the bonus chapter took quite an interesting approach. I agree with Lady Kestrel it was worth it.
These days I go everywhere with a carpetbag containing a crowbar, a flashlight, a screwdriver, an oilcan, a ladder, a zipper tab, and a chihuahua.
Welcome to the show! My guess is that the first episode is the shortest. So you should have more than enough time to finish it before Lady K gives us our marching orders for episode two on Tuesday.

I’m glad you’re joining us, Cluelass! I’ll be posting the new goal tomorrow, but it won’t take long to get caught up. (And yes, the first is the shortest section in the playthrough.)

Curious. I thought the episodes would be three days each. So, if episode one started on Saturday, we would have until Monday to complete it. Then a new goal would be posted on Tuesday, and we would have until Thursday to complete it. Etc. Or an I totally screwed up on the timing?

Since I started a day early and this is a short section, I thought we could move on tomorrow.

I’ve got to the 1st stopping point & am so pleased I started the game - I wasn’t so sure that the Sci-Fi subject was for me but have found it to be so refreshingly different to the theme of many other CGs (so far) & the impressive scenes are so wonderfully immersive. I loved the diving scene which was well brought to life with the sound effects (& the feeling of claustrophobia) - were they the same as those used when wearing the space-suit? Also the story so far is quite intriguing in that the drowned protagonist was brought back to life after 150? years through new technology to ‘repair’ her brain
By now you know that medical science has progressed dramatically, and it’s time to explore the settlement on Mars. You seem to be on your own, so once you get that flapping door jammed open, begin exploring and gathering information. There’s a lot to do, so rather than interrupt the flow, keep playing until you get the hydraulic drill fixed and open the tunnel. (I don’t want to post a screenshot of what you’ll discover after your excavation because it might spoil things.)
This is probably the longest sequence in the playthrough, but let’s keep to the 3-day playing time and try to finish this section by Thursday, June 16. Just keep me informed of your progress.
Some of the grapics in the game are really stunning. I especially like the door of Bellona’s temple and the underwater scene Chrissie mentioned.

I’ve arrived at the end point of this episode. It took me well over an hour. Although much of that was pixel hunting for the digital devices. I don’t remember if there is a penalty for not finding them all.
There was a pretty decent jump-scare in the control room. I didn’t remember that was coming.
I do have one problem. In the control room you are supposed to make a sketch of the constellation in the middle panel. I’ve got no paper, and only have a lipstick to draw with. Will I be returning here later? Or do I need to backtrack to find some needed objects? The maps shows no current objectives in the locations that I visited.

You’ll get that needed item later, Tim.

That is good.
BTW, love your new avatar. I could never go there. Have had four skin cancer surgeries so far, and had two scrapings for biopsy during today’s every-six-month derm exam. Hope they come back negative. Had far too much sun exposure in my youth than a fair-skinned Irish boy should ever have.

I haven’t finished this part yet but I’m having fun. I don’t know why you can’t use the solid fuel on the stove fire. That would be a blast!
Tim,
I like sunny days but never bask because I’d be a crispy critter in under 10 minutes. I do like to walk, but only in the morning and never without a sunhat.
Furgotten,
Remind me not to let you play with matches.

I’ve got the elevator fixed and I’m starting to explore the bottom of the channel. I played this about 3 years ago and remember a lot of the scenes, but I don’t remember the story at all. I was thinking that the people on this station were very careless about leaving their clothes everywhere. Then I read my journal and discovered there might be a more sinister interpretation. Ruh-oh.

After some time, I managed to open the tunnel. Thus fur I like both the story and the fact that the majority of the HOS use small riddl-isk elements in them. The graphics are really good, especially in the cutscenes.
Be as cute as it may, I don’t trust the cat.
I thought the cat’s recovery was amazingly fast. It must be the speedy nanobots.
