Any MODERN FMV games like GK 2, Phantasmagoria, Harvester, etc?
I’m currently in a big obsession with that great 90s period of FMV dabbling, and I don’t just mean CUT SCENES, I mean where the actual 3rd person sprites and/or environments are digitized real actors.
Are there any games within the last, say, 10 years that make use of this style? I’d love to much to see a real Gk2-like adventure game in the modern day with digitized characters like this, with modern day resolutions and production values. Is there anything like that? I’d also like to hear of classics I may have missed.
Just to be clear, while I’d like to hear of games like Her Story, what I’m REALLY looking for is good old point n’ click, but in modern day FMV.
Thank you!

There’s also a new one coming out called The Bunker this summer I believe.

Well, there’s Damn Virgins. I haven’t played it.
darkstar: the interactive movie.
I suppose technically this game started getting made in the 90s. But it wasnt released until several years ago.
Darkstar is pretty good fun, especially if you like a bit cheesy sci-fi.

Not what he’s looking for. He wants animated FMV sprites, like in GK2.

Access Software made quite a few - including Amazon: Guardians of Eden, Countdown, and the first two Tex Murphy games.
Dark Seed 1 + 2 also had FMV sprites. There’s also Noctropolis and Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Rose Tattoo. You probably already know of Police Quest 4.
Toonstruck also

I’ll eat my hat if this is a digitized real person.
That’s the problem with the word FMV. It means different things to different people. The reviewer wasn’t thinking of human actors.

It’s still a note worthy FMV title, which I don’t think that many people know of.

This was FMV in 1996. Does it look any realer to you?
I’m not sure there is a way to do 3D FMV that doesn’t look ugly yet. At least on a budget.

YES!

You ignored what I said about the meaning of FMV. It stands for Full Motion Video. Not for real life actors.
I repeat: I’ll eat my hat if that game actually uses digitalized human beings.

I’ll hold you to that! Want me to email the developer and find out?
I know what FMV stands for, but the 3 games the poster mentioned had actors. I don’t think he wants Dragon’s Lair.
Conspiracies I and II. I’m sure RockandRoll will like them. Conspiracies II is FullHD FMV, just great.

That would be very cool. It’s a deal!

The AG review mentions it’s a FMV game, yet doesn’t give a single FMV screenshot to show for it:
This is a half-baked FMV game - the FMV part is only in the cutscenes. (which seems strangely odd when the rest of the game is prerendered/sprites.)
Recently finished: Four Last Things 4/5, Edna & Harvey: The Breakout 5/5, Chains of Satinav 3,95/5, A Vampyre Story 88, Sam Peters 3/5, Broken Sword 1 4,5/5, Broken Sword 2 4,3/5, Broken Sword 3 85, Broken Sword 5 81, Gray Matter 4/5\nCurrently playing: Broken Sword 4, Keepsake (Let\‘s Play), Callahan\‘s Crosstime Saloon (post-Community Playthrough)\nLooking forward to: A Playwright’s Tale
