It’s now been confirmed by the developer via twitter that Anna’s Quest will be released on July the 2nd.

Emm, has this been moved? I’m sure I put it in the adventure section…

Nope, not moved originally. Has now, though.

Ah, I must of been mistaken. Thanks for moving it.

I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced. The AGS demo was great and now we have a full HD version. Smile

Played the original one. Beautiful game, with many fine details (including the player feedback by the comments of the main character). Looking forward of course to the new edition.

Looks good, a question, is it going to be episodic or is this release a full story?

It’s full story, not episodic like originally planned back when the developer was using AGS.

I wonder what price this will be now. I’m guessing around £20…

I’m beginning to worry about this. It’s out in less then two days now and there doesn’t seem to be much buzz around it despite it looking like a little gem of a game so far.

Did you see AG’s preview here?

And JustAdventure has a preview as well: http://justadventure.com/2013-05-20-21-09-14/2863-anna-s-quest-preview (but it doesn’t say much more than AG’s does)

And a recent video interview with the designer:

I didn’t play the original release, but I liked what I saw of it at GDC. As I mentioned in the preview, it reminds me of King’s Quest in some ways.

Must of missed the preview, I’ll check it out now. Thanks. I’ve seen the clips from youtube so far and they seem to have a really good sense of humour to it all.

As someone who utterly detested King’s Quest I’m a little surprised by this but also grateful Fov. For me the first part of Anna’s Quest was utterly delightful (I even got to like Ted’s voice 2nd time through, although Ted has been recast for this new version) and not at all like the tedious, drawn-out, boring dead-ending of KQ.

But! All you KQ fans. Fov thinks there’s similarities between the 2 so go buy it and help it to be a success. You won’t regret it I can assure you.

(Side whisper to all those like me with regard to KG. Don’t worry, it’s nothing like KQ so go buy it and help it to be a success. You won’t regret it I can assure you.)

The things that reminded me of KQ are thematic—the heavy inclusion of fairy tales in the plot, the storyline of a girl going on a quest to save her ailing grandfather, the level that takes place in a troll world. Also the fact that it’s a very traditional point & click game, clearly an homage to the KQ-era games. And I love King’s Quest, so for me this is a compliment. Wink

Until the full review is out, AG’s review of the first section (from its original release) gives a good idea of the type of gameplay to expect, for people who are deciding whether to buy: http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/23022

Not long now: http://store.steampowered.com/app/327220/

Now we play the waiting game…

Read the preview by the way. Sounds good. I’m just hoping the puzzles aren’t obscure or illogical. Oh, please don’t let that ruin the fun.

It’s out on gog now: Not all children’s stories are for kids. Dark and whimsical Anna’s Quest (http://t.co/otG55LNcAn), now #DRMfree
