This is pretty neat blast from the pages of games history. Ron Gilbert has dug up the original pitch document he used to sell Maniac Mansion to Lucasarts.

I especially like “It’s impossible for any of the characters to get hurt or die”, considering how the game turned out.

I’ve seen design documents before, but never a “pitch” document. Thanks for the post.

It’s a bit surprising that Lucasarts didn’t require something more substantial before it made the decision to greenlight the project.

Well, like he says:

There was no official pitch process or “green lighting” at Lucasfilm Games. The main purpose of this document would have been to pass around to the other members of the games group and get feedback and build excitement.
