Then they should show off THAT.

I agree completely. This was a major stumbling block for the series, marketing-wise. The trailers for the later games would often show no gameplay at all, leading people to fill in the blanks with the worst they could imagine.

In fairness, though, they have already put out gameplay screens before this. This shot is just the first capture of the FMV.

Can’t wait to explore those gorgeous environments.

edit: if that sounded like innuendo it was purely accidental Smile

The environments you see in those images where the actors have been integrated are, in fact, the real time game environments. Not pre-renders.

You’d think they could have found female actors that didn’t look like they had been run through the plastic surgery chop shop, ridden hard, and put away wet.  I can only imagine the acting caliber of these beauties.

And weren’t you the one complaining about sexist comments in another thread?

I think the actors and backgrounds all look great.

No, I was complaining about sexist character design, which I could also complain about here, too, since all these women look like used up porn stars.

Actually, you were complaining in another thread about what you perceived to be sexist comments, and you even went so far as to say you felt “sorry” for the girlfriend of the person who left those comments. I won’t post a link to your complaints there, since it would be a distraction from the discussion and I don’t want to embarrass you.

In my opinion, your sexist and ageist comments here are worse than anything said by the person you attacked in another thread.

But back to the game and to move beyond the nastiness…

Does anyone know if all of the filming has been completed?

Principle photography is complete, with remaining pick-ups and extras to be shot this month.

Phantasmagoria2 got me in the adventure gaming, it had amazing soundtrack and integration of story, FMV and gameplay for that time. Luring rat (hiding under the couch) , to get item back is one of the finest puzzles i ever solved. Smile

To me, that was one of those puzzles that could only ever make any kind of sense in an adventure game. In the real world (which is arguably where the game takes place) I’d use some everyday, household object - say, a newspaper or a juggling club - to retrieve the object. Or simply move the couch, which surely can’t be that heavy.

Have not seen those! They look great. Any news about any change to the interface?
Something like the old and I’d still be happy:

They haven’t gotten real detailed about the interface, except to say that it features WASD/mouselook controls like a FPS, and the same kind of interactions as the old games.

The woman in the second pic was recast twice at the last second. She was supposed to be played by Olivia d’Abo originally.

In any event, I think the aim was to find age-appropriate women for Tex to be tempted by, and since Tex is like 50 in this game’s story (and Chris Jones is older than that in real life) that means they’re not going to be young porn star looking girls, sorry.

I also love how people act like acting is a concern unique to FMV games. Even a mediocre live actor can still out-act a computer model most of the time, besides.

I think she looks rather thin for my tastes but I’m not trying to hit on her so what does it matter. Then again I have no idea what kind of standards Lambonius holds for femme fatales that apparently shouldn’t be sexy or mature.

And yeah, the acting, in Tex games it’s always been from decent to great. Average voiceacting is worse than the acting in most FMVs.

I’ve got no problem with “sexy” or “mature” women.  What turns me off is the classic fake “plastic surgery look” that all these women have.  If you don’t know what I mean, do a little googling.  It’s obvious once you recognize it.  I find it just as unsettling in big budget Hollywood stuff, too, by the way.  Give me natural older beauties like Jane Seymour, Kim Basinger, or Maryl Streep, who have let themselves age gracefully, rather than having some hack shoot them full of chemicals or put them under the knife.
