Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Saturday 27 October 2012
Once I had decided that I would do week about game music, I knew that there would be something from a Gabriel Knight game, since the music is such a memorable part of all three games. The hard part was picking a scene. The ending of the first game, with that unforgettable Hammond organ piece? The faux-Wagner opera with the 50-year-old singer playing the part of the pure maiden?
But ultimately, if there’s one GK moment I always associate with its music, it’s the time spent as Grace figuring the clues to Le Serpent Rouge one by one. This little piano tune may not seem like much, but it immediately takes me back to the pure joy that was solving that puzzle.
The greatest goddamn puzzle ever made.
One of my favourite puzzles ever. I mentioned elsewhere that I really love this type of puzzle (i.e. following clues and plotting information on a map and making connections).
