Sound problems in Grim Fandango?

I started replaying Grim Fandango last night.

I’m playing it through the Grim Fandango installer / launcher from Mixnmojo, but the issue I’m having right now is that - when I go into the menu or the inventory - the sound either stutters or stops completely. It seems to mess with the animation a bit, too.

Anyone know what I can do?

I’ve tried ResidualVM, but it kept asking me to install the patch off their site - which I’d already done.

Thanks, AGers!

I’ve had the audio stutter problem happen and fixed it by patching the game executable to only run on one of the CPU’s cores. I think the launcher you used was supposed to already do it, but it won’t hurt to try it manually.

Here’s a sample link: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=147235 you can just Google for “Grim Fandango” set affinity to get a lot of topics discussing this issue.

Might I suggest using http://residualvm.org/ instead. It offers by far the superior Grim Fandango experience these days.

I see you already tried, but you simply have to download the patch exe file and put it in the directory with the other game files(you don’t have to install it) even if you have already patched the game files.

Ah, OK. That might be the problem then, I’d only ran the file and installed the patch, but the .exe was still in a different directory. Thanks for all the help, I’ll give these a shot. Grin
