Physicus: Save the World with Science

This is the first of three Heureka-Klett edutainment titles I have played, and I found it the most whimisical and perhaps the easiest of the three.  It has a steampunk/fantasy vibe to it that made the education part quite fun.

The basic story is that the earth has stopped rotating after being hit by a meteor, and you must find a way, through science, to get it rotating again before one half freezes solid and the other half bakes out all life.  In the narrow band where life is possible, there are many physics-based puzzles to solve, but the game has a user-friendly database of information to help you.

What? No kleptomania? No cat moustaches or spinach dip or “monkey” wrenches?

What kind of adventure game is this? Tongue

Of course you can steal borrow items, and you even get to monkey around with mechanical things.  Alas, neither cats nor spinach play a part in this adventure.  Smile

It was a lot of fun. I think I liked Chemicus a bit more even though the education aspect of Chemicus was a bit heavy with its frequent use of the encyclopedia. I never got around to playing Biotopia.
