"Full Pipe", one of the most original russian games, has just appeared on Steam: http://steampowered.com/v/index.php?...me&AppId=4600&
It is a puzzle/adventure game that resembles "Goblins" series, but has a different feeling to it. A surrealistic underground world with strange characters and strange logic combines humor and philosophy. The game might not be clear to everyone (it actually has some USSR undertone), but it is very atmospheric and entertaining. It was directed, drawn and animated with a help of famous russian animator of 90th Ivan Maximov, based on his previous works. |

Looks very interesting. Do you know if there's a retail English language version as well? I ordered Pathologic just yesterday and this seems like a perfect companion piece.

Judging from the trailer, russian speech remained in this version. But, from the other side, there is very little speech and no written text in the game, and most of the words are just some mumbling. This is the specific of Maximov's cartoons - to present creatures using animation, not dialogs.

But is there a boxed edition of the game or is digital distribution the only way to get it? Because I don't have a credit card.

It was originally published as a boxed version (in Russia), but as far as I understand, there is no international shipment..

This looked just absolutely bizarre, so I purchased it. I'm not even sure how to describe this. Do you remember those flash-based adventure games that took place on a planet? Everything had a kind of weird, otherworldly logic to it and the puzzles were a bit obtuse, but intriguing?
I can't remember what that was called, but that's what this is like. Right from the start when your character is awoken by a giant hand undearneath his bed, this is definitely different. Thanks for the link. Anybody else purchase it? Edit: Sort of like this, but with a more adventure-gamey inventory. http://www.questfortherest.com/ Last edited by Thello; 12-21-2006 at 11:05 PM. |
