Vivendi Universal shuts down several gaming division including Sierra
As of june 2004 Vivendi Universal has shut down several gaming divisions including Papyrus Studios and Sierra. The only division not affected is Blizzard. 40% of the workforce will loose their job in the next 2 month.
You guys probably knew it was going to happen soon, but it's official now. A gaming era has ended . No more Sierra, no more great Sierra adventure games. All hope of a rebirth of the old Sierra classics has been abandoned. At least we have the memories and the fan games! For more information check out this thread: http://money.cnn.com/2004/06/21/tech...ames/index.htm Ow something to think about: Despite the closing, VU Games still plans to use the Sierra name, much like Infogrames Entertainment changed its name to Atari (ATAR: Research, Estimates) in 2003 to capitalize on its name recognition value.
