Thanks Drawken.
Your workaround worked like a charm, and Im on a CPU that is below the requirements of the game. I built my machine like 5-6 years ago, it was good then, but pretty outdated now. Windows XP Pro 2,40 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 2048 Megabytes RAM NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 (128 MB) Creative SB Audigy 2 Plat. ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4S8X Motherboard Could give some hope for some of the low end gamers out there.. I 2nd. Dale's Quote:

I had been running the Vampyre Story demo on my laptop using 3DAnalyze to get past the main.exe crashing to desktop, but I also was not seeing the cutscenes. I went to Binks website and downloaded the new RAD Game Tools. Now the game runs perfect, cutscenes and all on my laptop. Here are my specs
Windows XP Pro 1.60 GHZ Dual Core 1 GB of RAM Intel 945gm express http://www.radgametools.com/ |

Oh I should also mention that I do not even need to use 3dAnalyze anymore, the game no longer crashes to desktop with the new RAD tools installed.

I love how Crimson Cow is bending over backwards to help us with our problems, especially the forum that is down and all the quickfixes that dont exist.
Needless to say i have the same problem that everyone else here has, tried the quickfixes and nothing worked. I guess i'll put the game on the shelf for a month or so and then try again... |

On my (Vista) system, the file was located at "C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\A Vampyre Story\game\assets\scripts\14793.bin". On a non-Vista system I would guess at "C:\Program Files\A Vampyre Story\game\assets\scripts\14793.bin". Then just change the line with the anti-alias level setting to 0, like this: <option name="anti_alias_level" value="0"/> Good luck! |

Yeah....nothing works for me. Drawken's trick worked for a little while for at least loading the menu screen, but it still wouldn't actually launch the game.
I've got a few month old PC with a GeForce 9800 GT that runs Crysis fine so I don't think I have hardware performance issues. DirectX, .Net, Nividia drivers all updated to the most current versions, patch applied. I click on Vampyre Story, it does the black screen like it's about to launch, and then it goes back to the desktop. Sometimes I hear sound effects like it's running somewhere but I can't see it. It's maddening. |

I had the problems with game dropping back to desktop when i launch it, you can hear the music in the load screen, but you cant see the menu screen. after a while i figured it out. IT WONT RUN PROPERLY IF YOU HAVE EXTENDED DESKTOP ON ANOTHER MONITOR / TV. so if its enabled just rightclick on desktop, go properties > settings tab and click on your 2nd display and disable it. worked for me, and i run it on ATI9600 with aliasing set to 4 without problem. that was the only problem for me MULTIPLE DISPLAYS. hope this helps.
