I really hate the fairy world. It’s the only part of the game I didn’t like. It’s so nonsensical.

Nonsense!

Moving a weathervane to control the wind sounds pretty nonsensical to me.

Most of the puzzles I cracked by trial and error and the occasional use of the walkthrough.

Which parts? The puzzles were the best and cleverest in this section.

Well to be honest I don’t think there was a single puzzle in that segment where the solution made sense to me. The puzzles were all based on surreal logic and not rational thinking. At least that’s how see it.

It’s also such a huge break from the style of the rest of the game.

A very a good thing in my eyes.

Not to me I absolutely adored the style of the game. One of the most stylish, most charming games I’ve played.

I guess in the end it’s all a matter of tastes.

There isn’t an English retail box and it doesn’t look like there ever will be one. But since the German retail box uses Steamworks you get all the languages avaible on Steam. The means German & English voice over and French & Italian with subtitles.

That’s very sad to hear. But what do you mean I get other languages? I can get the boxed game in German, and I’ll still get to play it in English? Even though the English audio+text files do not physically exist on the game DVD??

Schneckchen says it’s fake, you say it’s real. So who are we to believe?
I’d like to think Daedalic wouldn’t stoop to this blah level, but what do I know…

You can believe me, I just tried it and it’s true Smile And it probably also exists in the German edition, I think Schneckchen ^.^ just tried using the puppet head without filling it with magnesium first - it’ll work only with magnesium inside the puppet head.

The German retail box is a multilanguage release with a Steam key. That means you have to activate the game on Steam and are able to change the language in the Steam client. You only need to download some language specific files.

And you might want to get the Italian box for a cover with the English game title. But I don’t know if it’s a flap box like the German one or just a plain DVD case. It doesn’t seem to contain the soundtrack as an extra CD but since it’s from Deep Silver I guess the DVD content is the same as the German one (with a Steam key).

This easter egg doesn’t seem to exist in the Steam version. Which means, it’s not in the German version, just in the English-only download version. Maybe they had to cut it because of Valve’s regulations.

Sorry to bump an old topic, but I got this yesterday with the Daedelic on Steam and already I would go as far as to say that it is one of the best Adventure Games I have ever played. Really back to basics but at the same time rich and up to date. Love it. The graphic style is incredible.

I got my copy from http://www.gog.com when they had it on special. Have not started playing it yet, but I am curious how The Dark Eye plays as an adventure game.

It’s quite linear but I enjoy the narrative a lot. As things progressed I think the writing has a bit to be desired though.

There is a point for example where your guardian is found with his eyes pecked out and body slashed up. He then dies as you speak to him. You’d think with Geron being an orphan and all and this guardian of his being the closest man to him, that he would be a little more upset than he is to see him perish. Geron gets over it all in about 5 seconds flat.

Also kind of annoying that you can fit a whole door in your pocket. Just seems silly.

Otherwise, still really, really enjoying this great game.

Also, it has one of the most hilarious easter eggs of any AG.

That game was legit good and had the best ending in ages. It’s actually quite rare for AG narratives to have good third acts let alone endings.

I’m this close to giving up on the game. I thought I could force myself to finish it, but it bores me so much, the story, the characters, everything is so uninteresting (I can’t even bring myself to hate Nuri) that I don’t think I’ll manage to get back to it.

After The Whispered World and now that, I’m never going anywhere near a Daedalic game again.

I hate Whispered World and I still liked Satinav a lot. The ending is worth going to.

Idk if you played A New Beginning but I liked that a lot too. YMMV.

I’m probably the only one but I enjoyed The Whispered World too.

If Steam will ever decide to work again I’m going to try A New Beginning next.

Far as i know the whispered world was well received, and i loved it.
Now as for a new beginning… its currently the only daedalic game iv played that i dont like.. i havnt played “the final cut” version that recently came out.. but after reading a description i have doubts they fixed what i didnt like.

Now playing: walking dead
On deck: monkey island 2, deponia, testament of sherlock holmes
recently finished: secret of monkey island, the cat lady, harvey’s new eyes, resonance

Hello to everyone here. I’m new in this community. I hope you have a happy new year.

I’m translating this game to Spanish (Castillian), the game deserves it. I have a trouble, so i ask for your help.

This game has different versions. The one from Steam (various laguages). The GoG version (only english). I don’t know if the other “only english” versions are the same as GoG’s.

I’m doing the translation over the Steam version. All works perfectly, the translation is almost 60% finished. The final version will be “unchained” very soon.

The problem is in GoG’s version.

One of the files needed for the translation (data.vis) is different from Steam’s one. The Steam’s one can be unpacked and repacked without any trouble. But the GoG’s fails.

The game seems to miss some assets (black sprites in Geron & NPCs).

I don’t know if this is related to “unpack&repack;” process, or a savegame problem; if i start New Game from Gog’s version, all works perfectly. This is where i ask for help.

¿Can someone give some GoG’s version savegames? On advanced game.

I will apreciate it. It will help me a lot if it’s a savegame problem.

Thanks in advance.
