Quarterfinal 4 - The Big AG VS Tournament
The Secret of Monkey Island
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
This combat will be tough…
I wonder what the outcome would be if these guys were fighting
Anyways. My vote goes to GK1. I always preferred games with a more serious tone. Even though I adore Monkey Island and all it’s glorious puzzles and writing I’ve got to admit that very few games made me really believe that I’m a living part of them. GK1’s cinematic atmosphere, the moody dark noir comics art style, Gabriel’s character, the perfect pace of the storytelling, the amount of details did that undoubtedly.
Gotta go Monkey Island on this one.

My guess is a lot of pulled out hair, scratches and broken fingernails
16 to 16 now? I sure hope that it doesn’t end up that the deciding vote is Tim’s random pick for what he guessed would be the underdog.
Oh what a tough choice. I love Gabriel Knight so much, and it is an amazing game, but I think I have slightly fonder memories of Monkey Island. Ghost pirates, insult sword fighting, three headed monkeys what’s not to love. So by a hairline I choose…
The Secret of Monkey Island
I vote for GK1 since I had computer problems and couldn´t vote for GK2 when GK1 and GK2 were against each other.
Two very even games, though also very different games.
Even though neither is among my absolute favourites, then they are both excellent and part of two of the best and most important series.
So how do I decide between them?
Well I will tell you how:
Since it looks like Lucasart will already be GROSSLY OVERREPRESENTED… *ahem* .. Sorry about that, I kind of lost my temper there a bit .. Let me try again:
Since it looks like Lucasart will already be well represented in the semifinals, with at least two other games and no one in their right mind can possibly be interested in turning this into a total Lucasart domination, then I will go with the underdog and show Sierra, JJ, Gabe and miss Nakimura a bit of love.
So my vote goes to Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
@Timovieman I think you are wrong about who the underdog is, this forum is very biased towards Lucasarts
Edit: Come to think about it - so are you
You have to play the game, to find out why you are playing the game! - eXistenZ
Why are you all calling underdogs to any of these games, there are no underdogs at this point in tournament! All of them are beloved classics

To cancel out TimovieMan’s “underdog” of course

It was like 6-9 behind when I posted that, and given the (well-deserved) love for GK1 here, I thought it was going to lose. And then there immediately were 4-5 consecutive MI votes…

And rightfully so. There are only 6 AGs that I have ever given 5 stars, and 5 of those 6 are LucasArts games.
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
This one is tough but I have to pick The Secret of Monkey Island.
