What the heck!

There are 101 members in Estonia's parliament. Maybe they all visited the site together?

Yeah, they ruin everything.:(

Isn't there some way to make them not "count"?

I've already disabled the identification of spiders in the "Who's Online?" bar.

But does that mean that googlebots doesn't count or that they just isn't identified, but still displayed as "Guest"?

Doesn't count. Maybe it's all the BS3 threads. Our stats went up quite a bit yesterday.

Marek: Don't you have statistics about the main site and the forum? Those usually include statistics about referrers, i.e. where people got to the site from.

Yeah, but almost everything comes from Google.com and it's many international siblings, which doesn't give us much other information :D

Google actually accounts for positions 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19 in the top 20 referrers for this month :)

#2 is some stupid warez site that linked one of our screenshots. Rather than banning them, I started feeding them http://www.adventuregamers.com/images/showimage.php?showdummy=1

Also, as of last week, news.google.com is carrying us as a news source. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=us&q=uru is a good example :)
(They looked at our domain registry info and assumed we were a .nl news org ;))

Well, don't you have statistics over search words used?

The statistics extractor I have tried (Webalizer (http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/)) removes google et al from the referrers and have search word statistic extracted.

twifkak

Well, the original spelling is googol, but the more common spelling is Google (http://www.google.com/).

Google doesn't mean the same thing as googol. Read their press section. It is derived from the word, but it's not the same word.

Marek

Yes, we use webalizer too :) I think it's configured differently.

If you type
"broken sword" "adventure game"
into google, the first link is its Gamespot gamespace and the second is a forum post at AGs.

Anyhow, I hope they all stay :)
