OK Everyone, I'm new here but I think you're my only hope if I ever want to play GF again. I have two systems. One is running Windows XP and the other is running Win98 SE. I've installed GF on both of them and it freezes in exacly the same place. It installs fine, I can see and hear the first cutscene, but when Manny first goes outside and attempts to walk up towards the alley the screen freezes, the fiesta music shuts down, and I have to press reset on my computer. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't even work. I've installed the patch, upgraded my video card drivers, and both systems are running directx version 9.0C. I've been trying to figure this problem out for about a month now without any results. Unfortunately, I've played just enough of this game to get hooked, otherwise I'd throw it in the closet with certain DOS games that never ran. Anybody have any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. :)

If it's behaving the same way on two different machines, my first guess is that something could be wrong with the disk. Take a look at the surface of the disk - do you see any scratches or dirt that could be causing a problem? Try cleaning the disk off with a cloth.

I think it has to do with hyper threading enabled.I had similar problems i disabled Hyper threading from BIOS and Grim Fandago ran flawlessly

I can't believe it! Cleaning the disk actually worked! Why didn't I think of this before? Seems to run fine now, even on XP. Thanks so much for your suggestion.

Ha! And that was just a wild guess. *D Glad to hear it's working now.

Welcome to the forum, Alkiviadis. Hyperthreading was my first thought, too, but then I assumed the win98 machine probably didn't support hyperthreading anyway.
