I am having problems with trying to get from the fire in the forest to the pond. If the game was not timed or if they gave you a bit more time to get to the pond and back I would not be stuck.
Is there some kind of trick to getting to the pond and back in time? When I click for Sherlock to walk/run I notice that half the time he won't move and I spend to much time trying to find a place on the path to click so he will move on. When the cursor with the feet shows up I click and nothing happens so then I have to keep clicking around until he moves. I really liked the game but have been sitting here for a whole day trying to get to the pond and back I can only assume I am not doing something right. I noticed throughout the game that when I click for Sherlock to move nothing happens and I have to click all over the place before he finally moves. I hate to be so close to the end of the game and not be able to finish it. I had problems with the curse of the mummy game to and was never able to finish it. I play allot of computer games and the sherlock holmes games are the only ones I have encountered problems with. I even tried to find a saved game so I could finish it but with no luck. Anyone have a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong or how I need to click to get him to keep moving? :frown:

Just learn the exit hotspots. It took me a while. Plan the route back as much as possible, and save along the way.

Thanks I will try that and hope I eventually get to the pond and back before the clock runs out.

If you're clicking the exit icons and Holmes isn't moving, it's because he can't "see" the exit from where he's standing (meaning the path is curved and the game treats it like an obstacle it can't pass). If that's the case, click somewhere midway along on the path to get Holmes to a place where he will be able to get to the exit unhindered. Then you can just click the exit icon and he should go.

this is what I did, and it really helped me:

I saved my game on the screen where Holmes says 'I smell smoke', then I retraced my steps to the bucket and the pond a few times to make sure I knew what I was doing, best positions etc. Still took me a few goes to do it, though but if I can, believe me anyone can!

have a save game just afterwards if that will help...

Bianchigirl - Will you send me your saved game? I'm stuck and I'm hopeless when it comes to timed sequences. BTW, I also sent you a personal e-mail.

Thank you so much!

Hokipoki, if Bianchigirl doesn't contact you (it's been a while since this thread was created), here's a save just afterwards. You still have to use the bucket on fire, but there should be enough time for that. :)

And welcome to the forum. :D

I remember using a walkthrough to tell me where to click and where to go to take the shortest route back.

It wasn't as bad as the utterly impossible stealth puzzle, mind you ;).
